MARCH 13, 2001

According to director John Guevremont, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation Government Affairs Office brings a little bit of the tribe to Washington, DC.

Guevremont, a tribal member, runs the office and gets top marks from people like freshman Congressman Rob Simmons (R-Conn). The office lobbies Congress on behalf of the tribe, as well as others, on legislation affecting sovereignty and Indian issues.

Guevremont was a delegate to last year's Republican National Convention. He drafted the party's platform on tribes.
