Clinton Cantwell team up

APRIL 26, 2001 Somewhere between 100 and 150 guests paid $1,000 each to attend a fundraiser Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) held at her Washington, DC, home on Wendesday night for fellow freshman Senator Maria Cantwell (R-Wash.). The fundraiser was held to help Cantwell pay off her campaign debts. Although her exact financial status hasn't been disclosed, she owes money to creditors after financing her successful defeat of Slade Gorton last fall with her own money. Along with all female Democratic Senators, guests included Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle, Senate campaign finance reform advocate Russ Feingold, and Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe. They reportedly ate tiny crab cakes, proscuitto, and other finger foods. And they drank white wine. A group of protesters picketed outside Clinton's home. Get the Story:
