APRIL 3, 2001

With campaign finance reform looming, lobbyists, lawmakers, and political parties are working hard to raise funds before any potential changes to the system are made.

Various fund-raising events reported by The Washington Post include a number of Republican events. The Post doesn't report how Democrats are raising funds, but Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe said the party is focusing on emphasizing hard-money donations.

President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney are getting into the game and will be appearing at fund raising events for the Republican Party.
