Bush raises $23.9M for GOP

MAY 23, 2001 Thank heavens the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill hasn't become law or else the GOP could have lost out on the $23.9 million President Bush raised for the party at a White House black tie gala. But apparently this White House cannot be bought all the time, or so the Bush administration would like to portray. Three Cabinet members have backed out of private meetings with GOP donors who are members of the "Inner Circle." As for the Bush gala, it drew over 3,000 people, reports the Washington Post, who paid $1,500 to $20,000 to attend. Get the Story:
