MAY 7, 2001 Secretary of Interior Gale Norton is approaching her 100th day in office and is probably the only Cabinet member to be judged on the milestone. Not without good reason, though. Norton has been the Bush administration's primary spokesperson on environmental issues, always staying on course while other agency heads sometimes feel the brunt of a burning Bush. As always, Norton makes nice with her detractors, including meeting with environmentalists who criticized her heavily as soon as she was nominated to head the department. She apparently wrote a letter to actor Robert Redford after he blasted her record. Indianz.Com will have our very own 100 Days of Gale Norton, a follow-up to 100 Days of George W. Bush.
