Changes made to faith-based bill
JUNE 28, 2001

Several changes to the President's faith-based initiatives bill were made on Tuesday in response to criticism and question of its constitutionality.

Critics worry religious groups who receive money would force people they serve to convert their religion. They also fear religious groups would discriminate against whom they serve. The changes seek to address these concerns.

The House version of the bill is expected to see action this week while the Senate version is still being delayed.
