President Bush on Monday announced he is nominating Mike Heavican as US Attorney in Nebraska.

Heavican has been serving as interim attorney since Tom Monaghan, a Clinton appointee, resigned in April.

Heavican has presided over the murder case of Brandon Horn. The 21-year-old Omaha Nation tribal member was found beaten to death last month on the Omaha Reservation.

Two adults, including one female tribal member, have been charged with murder. Three juveniles have been implicated.

Heavican has declined to comment on the evidence uncovered in the case or the status of the juveniles.
