Mineta: National to reopen
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2001

Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta said today on "Good Morning America" that Reagan National Airport will reopen.

The White House, however, denied a decision has been made about the only airport which still remains closed more than two weeks after September 11's terrorist attacks. The White House also would not confirm whether a decision will be announced by early next week, as Mineta said.

The airport has been closed due to its close proximity to the U.S. Capitol. It has remained shut down even though President Bush yesterday ordered additional security measures be taken at airports around the country and called on Americans to return to flying.
