FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2001 Embattled Rep. Gary Condit (D-Calif.) is privately hinting he may retire from Congress, sources told The Washington Post. Condit has not said if he will seek re-election for an eight term. As the scandal over the disappearance of former government intern Chandra Levy grows, he has been urged not to run from family, friends, constituents and others. Levy has been missing since May. Condit has been interviewed by police due to a type of relationship he had with her. But he is not considered a suspect because there is no evidence of a crime. Get the Story:
