President Bush on Monday signed a $19.2 billion appropriations bill into law that provides funding for the Department of Interior and related agencies.

The bill includes funding for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Indian Health Service. Although the BIA budget is seeing an increase, land and water claim settlements make up the bulk of the boost.

Other funding includes $4.5 million for the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe and $5.6 million for the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque, both in New Mexico.
