Although a Senate committee has already held a confirmation hearing for Steve Williams, President Bush's pick to head the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, his nomination is being held up over a dispute over ducks.

The Republican delegation from Mississippi wants Fish and Wildlife to extend the duck-hunting season for six southern states. But Sen. Mark Dayton, a Democrat from Minnesota, opposes the extension and has put a hold on Williams' nomination.

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee is having a business meeting today and is expected to vote on Williams' nomination.

Fish and Wildlife is an agency of the Department of Interior.
