The last of three Connecticut towns who were engaged in discussions with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation over trust last has informed Rep. Rob Simmons (R-Conn.) that his services are no longer needed.

In a letter to Simmons, the mayor of Ledyard says the talks over land-into-trust are over. Simmons had been facilitating the meetings but they fell apart when Ledyard and North Stonington refused to meet with the tribe.

A third town, Preston, said it wanted to continue talking, but without Simmons involved.

The tribe had offered to limit its land-into-trust applications to 880 acres for the next 35 years but Ledyard and North Stonington said it wasn't enough.
