The Senate might subpoena Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge to force him to testify on national security.

The White House won't let Ridge testify because he is considered an adviser and not a Cabinet member. Senate Majority Leader Thomas A. Daschle (D-S.D.) said a subpoena would be a last resort but is an option on the table.
