FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 2002

There's mounting tensions among Republicans in Congress and the White House, reports The New York Times, citing dissatisfaction voiced by GOP lawmakers and advisers to President Bush.

The lawmakers say the White House isn't doing enough to help bolster support for GOP candidates in the elections this year. The White House counters that the lawmakers aren't appreciative of Bush's efforts.

The White House also says Republican leaders haven't stood behind Bush on issues like the energy task force and whether Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge should testify before Congress. Some lawmakers don't believe the White House respects the institution of Congress.
