Olympics will have Native flair

MAY 14, 2001 The 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, will have a Native feel, thanks to the presence of two large expositions focused on Indian Country. One is "Discover Navajo: People of the Fourth World," an Olympic-sanctioned event that will focus on the Navajo Nation. It is described as a 15,000-square-foot interactive cultural education center. The other is the 50,000-square-foot "Festival of Nations," which will feature arts, crats, and more from tribes throughout Indian Country. Because this is not an Olympic-sanctioned event, goods can be sold. The Navajo Nation is sponsoring both events. Get the Story:
