Program puts Abenakis on the slopes

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2001 Former Olympic skier Suzy Chaffee is starting a program in Vermont to send low-income Abenaki children on skiing trips. Chafee has lined up several ski resorts for the program. Former Olympic skiiers will teach the kids, she said. April Rushlow, an Abenaki leader, said the program would help lift children's self-esteem. Get the Story:
