Tribal interests in Connecticut have given less than $3,000 to the Congressional campaign in the 2nd District.

According to the Federal Elections Commission (FEC), Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Chairman Kenneth Reels gave $1,000 in May of 1999 to incumbent Sam Gejdenson. The chief of staff and a lobbyist of the Mohegan Tribe gave a total of $1,500.

Including employees or businesses associated with the two tribes, the amount contributed to Gejdenson and his opponent, Robert R. Simmons, a state representative, the amount rises to $7,400.

Simmons has attempted to turn Gejdenson's involvement in the passage of the 1983 Mashantucket Pequot Settlement Act.
