DECEMBER 15, 2000 A group of 50 horse riders today begin a journey from Eagle Butte, South Dakota, to Wounded Knee, the site of a Sioux massacre on December, 29, 1890. Called the Big Foot Memorial Ride, the route is named for Minneconjou Chief Big Foot. The US Army massacred Big Foot and other Sioux for practicing the Ghost Dance rites. The riders will also travel to the spot where Sitting Bull was killed by tribal police. The ride first took place in 1986. Get the Story:
