Aryan compound to be auctioned

FEBRUARY 8, 2001 The Idaho compound owned by Aryan Nations founder Richard Butler will be auctioned off to pay his debts next week but the only bidders are the part Native family who won a lawsuit against the white supremacist. The Keenan family were the only bidders to meet a deadline for the auction. Some had feared Butler supporters would also bid and return it to him as a gift but no one except the family were able to make a $15,000 cash deposit and have a credit line of at least $300,000. The bidding starts at $250,000 and the family's lawyer said they are guaranteed of winning it. The family intends to sell it afterwards and Butler will still owe them the remainder of a $6.3 million settlement. Get the Story:
