Racism boycotts planned in Alaska

APRIL 16, 2001 Alaska Native activists are planning on organizing various boycotts against businesses in Alaska to protest racism. The Economic Boycott Committee is considering a variety of actions to carry out their boycott. Individual businesses might be included. The group says they will continue the boycott until the Alaska Legislature passes a hate crimes bill and racism is addressed statewide. The group says incidents like the paint-ball attacks on Alaska Natives and the rapes of Alaska Native women spurred their movement. Get the Story:
