EDITORIAL: Indians aren't mascots

APRIL 19, 2001 The Seattle Times in an editorial today says schools, students, and alumni need to be reminded that American Indians aren't mascots until they realize team names don't honor Native people. The paper makes its editorial in response to a US Commission on Civil Rights statement denouncing the use of Indians as mascots as non-Indian schools. Get the Story:
