EDITORIAL: Recognition is top concern

In an editorial today, Lance C. Johnson, managing editor of The New London Day, makes the case for improving federal recognition one of Neal McCaleb's challenges in dealing with Connecticut.

The Branch of Acknowledgement and Research, which handles federal recognition petitions, has about 11 staff members, while the Bureau employs almost 9,900. The BAR budget is less than $1 million.
