MAY 19, 2000 Jackson T. King Jr., lawyer for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, defended himself and the tribe against claims made by author Jeff Benedict in his book Without Reservation. King refuted Benedict's claim that the 1983 Mashantucket Pequot Settlement Act, which granted the Mashantucket federal recognition, included more land than lawmakers understood. He described the land described by the Act as "very accurate." Benedict responded, saying he stands by his research. Get the Story:
