New White Earth leader seeks changes

JUNE 20, 2000 Reverend Doyle Turner, the newly elected chairman of the White Earth Ojibwe of Minnesota, wants tribal members to have more say in government issues. Citing a $31 million expansion of the tribe's Shooting Star Casino, Turner said the current administration needed to consult members before undertaking the project. Turner also said the tribe needs to diversify its economy. Get the Story:
