Al Gore is leading George W. Bush 50-45 in a poll conducted by The Washington Post and ABC News.

Registered voters in the poll said Gore would be best to manage the economy, improve education, and improve health care.

Other polls also show Gore gaining a lead over Bush. Candidates typically experience a surge after the party's national convention.
