SEPTEMBER 12, 2000

Connecticut state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and state Senator George C. Jepsen will host a forum to address federal recognition issues and gaming related mostly to the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation, a state-recognized tribe.

Chief Richard Velky will make a presentation, along with the leaders of three towns bordering the reservation of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. A forum held by the towns regarding the federal recognition petitions of two Pequot tribes turned into a debate on race and politics.
