THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2001

A judge in Illinois on Wednesday dismissed a lawsuit filed against the makers of the HBO series "The Sopranos", accused by an Italian group of perpetrating stereotypes about Italians.

The American Italian Defense Association wanted Time Warner to apologize for portraying Italians as mobster. But Cook County Circuit Court Judge Richard A. Siebel dismissed it and said it could not be filed again.

An appeal of the dismissal, however, is possible.
