In an editorial today, The Norwich Bulletin says the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has given "significant assurances" about a proposal it has offered affecting trust lands.

The paper says the assurances the tribe provide in a recent letter to the leaders of three towns provide "clear and enduring" answers to concerns abut the proposal. The tribe said it will limit land-into-trust applications to 880 acres over the next 35 years.

The tribe will also pay property taxes to the towns for trust land and adhere to zoning regulations as strict as local ones.
