TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2001 John C. Reiner of Taos Pueblo, New Mexico, died on Saturday. He was 88. Rainer was former chairman and vice chairman of the All Indian Pueblo Council. He was also the first executive secretary of the National Congress of American Indians. Rainer first began work as a teacher on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation. He later taught at other Indian schools before becoming an administrator. Get the Story:
