Accident kills singer activist wife

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2001 An accident in Minnesota has claimed the lives of a Lakota drum group singer, his activist wife and their family friend. According to the Associated Press, Joseph Foote and Mary Foote were returning from a sweat lodge ceremony when their car, driven by Candance Caldwell, collided with another this past Saturday. The driver of the other car also died. Joseph Foote was a member of the Lakota Nation, Kola Singers and Rock Creek Singers drum groups. Along with his wife, they opened their home to several youths. Joseph was diagnosed with the AIDS/HIV. His wife had been participating in an AIDS vaccine program. Get the Story:
