Deputy Secretary J. Steven Griles it not only in charge of trust reform, he's also allegedly in charge of fixing the Department of Interior's numerous information security problems.

According to a department spokesperson, Griles is working with Interior bureaus and agencies to get their systems that use the Internet back up and running. Almost every such system has been shut down in response to a court order saying that the trust assets of 300,000 American Indians were in danger from hackers.

How he is working with the Bureau of Indian Affairs is not known. Tribes and individual Indians may see delays in payments because of the shutdown.

Government lawyers have asked that certain systems be reconnected but not any BIA ones.
