Due to an Internet shutdown designed to protect individual Indian trust data, various offices and agencies at the Department of Interior have returned to the old fashioned way of doing things.

No, they haven't brought back the War Department to handle Indians. Instead, they've been forced to use paper, phone and (gasp!) even face-to-face communication to disseminate information.

A consent order finalized yesterday by the Interior and approved by a court investigator allows the department to start placing its computer systems back online.
