FCC approves rural Alaskan exception

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2001 The Federal Communications Commission has unanimously approved an exception for rural Internet users in Alaska. The FCC said users can tap into the existing school network when schools aren't in session. The ruling applies only to Alaska and only in communities that don't have a local service provider. Outside use must also not raise program costs. Get the Story:
