THURSDAY, MAY 9, 2002

A bill that one tribal leader said was an attack on state-recognized tribes in Connecticut failed to pass the Legislature this session due to lack of commitment.

But state Rep. Jefferson B. Davis intends to revive his repeal of "Vegas Nights" next year. He wanted to get rid of the law in order to prevent tribes from opening casinos in the future.

Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation chairman Kenneth Reels rallied with state tribes to fight the bill.
