Alaska village school shut down

FRIDAY, MARCH 1, 2002 The state of Alaska has closed the McQueen School in the village of Kivalina, citing the safety of staff members. The school was closed Wednesday because "community residents" were threatening staff. Police have been called by the school at least three times in the past month, reports The Anchorage Daily News, and are investigating an alleged assault. The school serves grades K-12. Get the Story:
