TUESDAY, APRIL 2, 2002 Fort Phil Kearny in Montana is offering students, amateurs and others an opportunity to participate in two archaeological projects this summer. The fort was used along the Bozeman Trail to ensure access to gold in the Plains. But it came under repeated attack by tribes and, along with two others was shut down by the government.
