THURSDAY, MAY 2, 2002 The Central Council Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska is honoring its elders. The council designated 12 Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian elders as its first "Living Cultural Treasures." The awards were bestowed last month. Local communities and tribal organizations chose the honorees. Get the Story:
