FEBRUARY 22, 2001

Leaders of Pojoaque Pueblo met with Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM) and New Mexico officials on Wednesday to discuss their long-standing water rights case.

The Pueblo and the state are trying to negotiate the Aadmodt case and are seeking Domenici's help in negotiations and for federal funds to build a regional water system. Domenici said he was committed to both.

The Pueblo has appealed a recent federal court ruling which limited their future water rights usage to the time period from 1876 to 1924.
