Bush promotes green self

President Bush on Monday visited the Florida Everglades to push his views on conservation, promising to empower local and state governments to solve environmental problems.

Bush, however, did not address drilling off the coast of Florida, which his brother Governor Jeb Bush and citizens in the state oppose. The Interior Department is going to auction off oil and gas development leases in an area adjacent to the Florida coast.

Since the area is more than 100 miles from the coast of Florida, the Interior doesn't consider it a violation of Florida's existing off-shore moratorium.
