Rep. Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.) on Wednesday introduced legislation directing President Bush's new Office of Homeland Security to address the possibility of terrorist attacks on the Yucca Mountain facility in Nevada.

The site is under consideration to store the nation's highly radioactive nuclear waste. Berkley's bill would require the development of a terrorism plan for the repository and for waste shipped to it.

A number of area tribes oppose the designation of the site. Residents, officials and the state's Congressional delegation also oppose it.
