In an editorial today, The Las Vegas Review-Journal says a new Congressional investigation on a proposed nuclear waste facility is good news for Nevada but bad news for the Department of Energy.

"When it comes to Yucca Mountain, the Department of Energy resembles a lost child groping to find his way in the dark," the paper writes.

The General Accounting Office has said the Yucca Mountain study currently underway is unrealistic because the project is behind schedule. The DOE can't guarantee the plans it is showing the public are the ones the will be put in place either, said the GAO

The overwhelming majority of Nevada's political leadership opposes highly radioactive nuclear waste being stored in the state. Area tribes are also agains the facility.
