The Ford Foundation has awarded a member of the Gwich'in Nation in Alaska a $130,000 grant.

Sarah James, who is from Arctic Village, Alaska, is one of the leading opponents of opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas drilling. She was one of 20 chosen for the "Emerging Leaders in a Changing World" award.
