New Mexico's State Engineer is threatening to have Pojoaque Pueblo's water supply shut off.

In a letter, Tom Turney says he will ask a federal judge to cut the water if the tribe starts to irrigate a golf course. He warned Pueblo Gov. Jacob Viarrial that the tribe will be exceeding its share of water if it does so.

Turney has been questioning the tribe's water usage over the past few months. A federal judge is presiding over a 40-year-old water rights case involving the Pueblo and other communities in northern New Mexico.
