In The Hoop: The Scorecard
Is it Friday already? That means it's time for the weekly list of the movers and shakers in Indian Country and beyond.

The Winners
White People - For managing to turn the Bureau of Indian Affairs into the Bureau of White Affairs. The Indian Health Service is next.

The Quinault Nation - For managing to scuttle yet another tribe. Connecticut Attorney General Richard "Indian Killer" Blumenthal would be proud.

The Department of Interior - For managing to be "cleared" of a number of allegations of misconduct by Inspector General Earl E. Devaney. We're convinced no one has done anything wrong.

EDS Corporation - For managing to get paid $3 million to tell the government what any Indian and group of MIT students could have told those fat cats for free.

The Losers
Indian Country - Don't cross Auntie Gale! She'll hold back your land-into-trust application.

Tribal Leaders - Don't cross Uncle Neal! He'll tell you a story and say your math sucks. So much for your boarding schools education!

The Bureau of Acknowledgment and Research - For springing a leak bigger than the Titanic. It eventually sank.

The Tigua Tribe of Texas - For losing yet another attempt to keep your casino open. Three words: Pueblo. Revolt. Mexico.

In the Middle
Federal recognition - Tribes, why even bother? Just die like the history books say you did.

Termination - You're still alive and kicking, ready to spring up at an editorial's notice.

Cher - If you can't be an Indian, at least you can play one on the silver screen.

Deputy Interior Secretary J. Steven Griles - For taking a lead on trust reform. Does this mean you will actually show up to a court hearing?
