The United States will be resettling 1,000 members of a Vietnamese tribe after talks to return them to their original homeland failed.

Known as the Montagnards, tribal members have fled to Cambodia, citing persecution. Cambodia didn't want them; Vietnam did, but human rights groups said the largely Christian tribe which allied with the United State during the Vietnam War would face consequences if returned home.

A number of Montagnards have already resettled in North Carolina.
