The newly elected leaders of the Crow Tribe of Montana face many challenges. The first is ensuring vital documents and property do not get destroyed and funds do not get misspent during the transition period.

New tribal chair Clifford Bird in Ground and his running mates were elected on Saturday. They will take office July 1st.

Also on the immediate agenda are examining the tribes' coal severance tax, looking into a water compact with the state seen as unfair to the tribe, and abolishing a Nomee introduced law that granted too much power to the office of tribal chair.
