The Seventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that the St. Croix Ojibwe cannot interfere in a casino proposal made by three other Ojibwe bands, the Lac Courte Oreilles, Red Cliff, and Mole Lake-Sokaogon of Wisconsin.

The three bands recently came to a settlement with the city of Hudson, who agreed to drop official appearance of objection to their plan. The Department of Interior had turned down the bands' plan, citing local opposition. Other tribes, including the St. Croix, have also opposed the plan.

Even after the settlement, city officials have voiced negative opinions about the plan.
