A Connecticut group claiming to be a sovereign tribe is being fined an additional $1,800 in fines for three vehicles abandoned on a piece of property in the city of Norwich.

In total, the Mohegan Tribe and Nation Inc. has been fined $11,450 for numerous violations of city building and inspection codes. The group contends the city has no jurisdiction over a building it owns.
