Alleged tribe racks up more fines

FRIDAY, JANUARY 11, 2002 A Connecticut group claiming to be a sovereign tribe is being fined an additional $1,800 in fines for three vehicles abandoned on a piece of property in the city of Norwich. In total, the Mohegan Tribe and Nation Inc. has been fined $11,450 for numerous violations of city building and inspection codes. The group contends the city has no jurisdiction over a building it owns. Get the Story:
