FRIDAY, JANUARY 11, 2002

Jim Shore, general counsel to the Seminole Tribe of Florida, was still hospitalized on Thursday after being shot several times in what has been described as a mob-style, planned hit.

The attack occurred Wednesday night at Shore's home in an upscale neighborhood in Hollywood. Police aren't saying it was a professional hit but that Shore was targeted.

Tribal council members were placed under armed guard in response. Ousted leader Jim Billie, who has been the target of Shore investigations, was also under guard.

The tribe has been through political turmoil in recent months and has filed a lawsuit against Billie alleging misuse of tribal funds.
