A Bureau of Indian Affairs employee involved in a fatal car crash in New Mexico was handed over to federal authorities on Thursday after he waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Lloyd Larson faces four counts of involuntary manslaughter for the deaths of two Nebraska couples. The January 25 accident occurred on a highway running through Laguna Pueblo.

Larson has a history of alcohol-related driving incidents. A federal magistrate was told of eight citations and arrests.
